Hyundai Buys Oscar Ad Space Abandoned by GM
LOS ANGELES - Hyundai Motor America has purchased the ad spots left by General Motors Corp. (GM) in next February's Academy Awards broadcast, reports AdAge.com. It is unclear which models Hyundai will feature in its recently purchased ad spots, but analysts believe it will be the Genesis, which debuted in a TV and mobile direct response campaign during last February's Super Bowl XLII.
NBC and appssavvy Form Advertising Partnership
NEW YORK - NBC Universal and appssavvy, a direct sales team for social media applications, formed an advertising partnership under which appssavvy is the exclusive ad team for the NBC News? iCue social media application launching later this month on Facebook.
Haire to Interview Tree.com's Lebda as Keynote of N.Y. Financial Marketing Event
NEW YORK - Tree.com Chairman and CEO Doug Lebda will be interviewed live on stage by Response Editor-in-Chief Thomas Haire as the keynote of iMedia Connection's Financial Marketing Summit, set for Tuesday, Oct. 21, at New York's Metropolitan Club. More than 100 senior marketing executives from across the financial services spectrum are expected to attend the exclusive event, which promises to explore the state of interactive marketing in the financial services marketplace.
Media Companies See Slowest Growth Since 2001
LOS ANGELES - The nation's top 100 media companies had a 4.6-percent revenue hike in 2007, the slowest growth since 2001, reports AdAge.com.

ITV Ventures has laid off the majority of its remaining employees and stopped selling infomercial merchandise. Its owner, Donald Barrett – who also owns the recently troubled ITV Direct Inc. and Direct Marketing Concepts – will launch Elite Virtual Systems Group (EVP) on Oct. 10 to sell the products.

Concepts TV celebrates 25 years of business in both short- and long-form infomercial production. In honor of the anniversary, the company’s president, Collette Liantonio, took her staff to the Red Rock Mountain Spa in St. George, Utah, for four days.

GSI Commerce will acquire Innotrac Corporation – a provider of E-commerce, fulfillment and custom care services that owns eight fulfillment facilities. Following the close of the deal, GSI will operate 4.7 million square feet of fulfillment centers and 2,165 call center seats.
